Avery Craine Powell is the Content Specialist for University Communications for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. 

 

For more than seven years, Avery was a reporter and anchor in several media markets along the East Coast including Harrisonburg, Va., Burlington, Vt. and Greensboro, NC.

Now he helps to create content for UNCG to promote the university's mission and show prospective students and donors what the university has to offer.

WFMY MULTI-SKILLED JOURNALIST

Generate two to three story ideas to be filmed, edited and presented within the day. Format broadcast stories for the WFMY website with included video, links and images.. Develop creative storytelling techniques to bring in and engage diverse audiences.

DANCING WITH THE STARS OF THE 'BURG

Raised more than $12,000 independently over about 2 months for the non-profit Harrisonburg-Rockingham Child Day Care Center in the annual charity dance competition.

Collaborated with a team of individuals from various industries in the community to learn about leadership development, the community, and organize a charity race for CASA for Children, a local non-profit organization.
